Vacancy: Business Development and Operations Manager

Africa investor (Ai) has established AfricaPLC, the Ailibaba of Africa, to transform the face of B2B and B2G ecommerce on the African continent. AfricaPLC is now looking to recruit an entrepreneurial, experienced leader to take charge of the expansion of AfricaPLC’s innovative pan African trading platform. The position will be Johannesburg based and include significant travel across the continent.
Proven Strategic Planning, Financial Planning and Sales Strategy, Process Improvement, Performance and Quality Management, Staffing, Coordination are the attributes we are looking for.

Responsibilities
• Lead AfricaPLC initiative to pilot and launch the platform to corporate users
• Communicate product/process needs and work with product/engineering to deliver on them
• Initiate creative local marketing strategies and user growth campaigns
• Prepare Business Plan on business design, structure, process and operating plan and financial model to accomplish subsidiary objectives; including establishing plans, budgets, and results measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections
• Strategize and plan the sales process management, forecasting, pricing, key account management, expenses, profitability, new product development, market research and brand strategy
• Update management on business process and operating plan and financial model and profitability
• Responsible for Marketing and Sales and works to achieve top line market share and achieve revenue and brand objectives
• Responsible for revenue generation across products and regions
• Conduct effective and accurate market research and apply this information to increase market share
• Coordinate, prepare and launch new products for target markets building a model for local sales and adoption
• Emphasis on being unit economics focused with a developed understanding of pricing structures, gross margin and profitability
• Periodically review performance and seek reasons and actionable steps to close the gaps
• Conduct regular meeting with distributors and sales team to discuss target status, product training and, sales strategy
• Conduct customer or training seminars as per the requirement of regions
• Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices.
• Ensure the confidentiality of the customer list, mailing lists and other sensitive company information.
• Manage partners and local hires, and have an eye for Business development opportunities at all times

Candidate Specifications:
•7+ years of consulting, investment banking, marketing, financial or operations management experience
•Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking
•Good working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Office, Slack, Asana, Gmail, etc.)
•Leadership/Managerial Skills
•Creative solutions driven mindset, with a get stuff done attitude
•Relevant experience in trading / ecommerce
•French and English fluency required
•Stellar networking skills and the ability to make smart partnerships happen
•Entrepreneurial
