BiD Network supports Ai Investors’ Summit on Social Investing and Social Enterprise

By Shanna | April 26, 2011

Cape Town, South Africa; 26 April 2011: Africa investor (Ai), a leading international investment research and communications group, today announced its partnership with the BiD Network for the Ai Investors’ Summit on Social Investing and Social Enterprise in Africa, taking place on the 3rd of May in Cape Town.

The BiD Network engages thousands of entrepreneurs, experts and investors from all over the world to stimulate entrepreneurship and economic growth in emerging markets. The Network matches investors with highly dedicated entrepreneurs throughout Africa, and encourages entrepreneurs to develop and execute innovative business plans with growth potential.

The Ai Investors’ Summit on Social Investing and Social Enterprise in Africa will create a platform for the BiD Network to share their strategies on funding social businesses as well as micro-, small- and medium-enterprises (MSMEs) operating within inclusive business value chains. In line with Ai’s Investors’ Summit, the BiD Network sources and selects business plans of SMEs in emerging markets, and offers tools to the best entrepreneurs, paving the way for them to access finance.

Commenting on the Summit, Hubert Danso, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Africa investor, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with BiD Network on the Ai Investor’s Summit on Social Investing and Social Enterprise in Africa. The Summit will host a marketplace dedicated to facilitating partnerships and networking between foundations, impact investors, philanthropists and social enterprises, in which BiD’s Network will play a central role.” The Summit will also launch a first-of-its-kind database of 1,000 social enterprises operating in Africa.

Other Summit supporting partners include the United Nations Office for Partnerships, United Nations Business Call to Action, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Bunengi Group, Social Private Equity South Africa (SPESA), ANDE Networks and the Crossland Group. The Ai Investor’s Summit on Social Investing and Social Enterprise in Africa will be held at the V&A Waterfront’s BMW Pavilion in Cape Town, South Africa, on May 3, 2011.
